“Le Romain” is a nickname of Jacques-Martin Hotteterre (1674–1763), a French composer, educator and interpreter, who significantly contributed to the development of flute literature, flute playing as well as the flute as an instrument. The name, which he probably acquired due to his studies in Italy, refers to the ensemble cast and its chamber repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries. The music samples can you find on the Repertoire page.
